What is surfing ?

Surfing is a water sport.It’s practiced with waves. It’s born in 1769 in Hawaï.

First surfing in the world

During a boat trip in Hawaï, the lieutenant on board HMS Endeavourdescribed surfing in the logbook. Back in Europe, the logbook was published.

The surf attracts explorers in the islands  but the tradition of surfing in Hawaï is dead.

What was the purpose of surfing

Surfing started in Hawaï since the 18th century. Leaders used it to show their superiority while in Tahiti it’s used to challenge and to get the best place in the tribal.

The board

There are several boards (shortboard ,longboard gunboard …) each board has a precise program  for waves.The board are made by a shaper .The shaper in Reunion island is Mickey rat.

Modern surfing
