The Journey…

Never in a million dreams did I ever see myself as a writer. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to be a journalist/news anchor and be in front of the camera. It is what I even graduated in. However, as time went by my father kept on pestering me about writing. He insisted that employers would want to see what I have been doing with myself as I waited for employment.

So, in campus I joined the school newspaper ‘Involvement Newspaper’ as well as the school radio station ‘Shine FM’. Then something interesting happened. We were given an assignment in class that had bonus marks. In order to get the bonus points, we the students had to create a blog and post at least three articles by the end of that semester. I really wanted to get the bonus points to boost my grades. That is how addikahbelinda.wordpress.com came to be.

At the end of the semester I decided to keep the blog because I got a chance to go for a 10 month exchange program to South Korea. I figured the blog would be a great platform to share the amazing memories from across the world.

Marché de plein air des CaméliasMy blog did not quite have a niche as I wrote about anything and everything but as time went by I discovered that I was writing more about things that involved travelling; from food to new culture to culture shock, among many other adventures I encountered.

The more I travelled the more I got to write and little by little I built my audience from around the world. I enjoyed looking at the statistics that always showed me the number of people reading even from countries where I did not know anyone.

After my 5 year mark of blogging, I felt a great urge to invest more into my work and hence upgraded to addikahbelinda.com. There I can share even my social media handles as well as my vlogs. To increase my viewership and audience outreach I took up the task and also added YouTube to my list and you can find my Channel as Belinda Addikah, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC524AeP0X2MJMXLV4f_qEFw . I am enjoying how busy it is keeping me. Editing is not my stronghold but I am taking it a day at a time and giving myself breaks whenever I need to.

Let me know where you are reading and watching from 🙂
